“HOW TO BUILD TRUST IN AI-DRIVEN CHEMICAL PROCESS OPTIMIZATION WITH DATA UX DESIGN”
on Monday, 11th May 2:30 pm.

What you can expect:
Navigance offers an innovative solution that optimizes the efficiency of chemical processes based on plant data. As safety of the operation takes highest priority in the chemical industry, fast acceptance for such new technology can only be won without full automation.

Therefore, it is crucial that the staff stays in the loop and continues to take the responsibility of changes in process. However, our product team soon learned about a big challenge regarding the human-machine interaction: Process engineers and operators have an already demanding work routine, so any distraction like another crowded monitor with cryptic alerts was not wanted and would not have been accepted. In addition, it was not easy to gain their trust on recommendations from hybrid process models that seemed “black box” for them. Without a good way to address this, they could easily feel left behind as experts.

Evelyn and Sebastian will show you how we developed purpose-built data visualizations that help gaining trust in our models that are powered by machine learning. They will talk about how we designed a user interface that leaves the plant team in control and caters to their workflow, ensuring high user acceptance.
